Juggling 101: An Introduction

by Candyce Fulford

We do it *all*! We have our family, friends, and our own home business. We've got the world by the tail ... or has it got us? How do we balance our time so that we can enjoy life to the fullest? I used to think, "When I get this web site completed, this marketing plan approved, this pile of printing done and filed, I'll be able to spend more time doing what *else* needs to be done. And, if I didn't get to do the laundry, or get the errands completed, I would apologize as sweetly as I could and vow to do better tomorrow.

But the next day would find me just as scattered and stressed as the day before. As a 'juggler', I certainly was a failure!

So, one day I sat myself down and asked myself some hard questions.
s What do I want to accomplish with my time?

What is *really* important and what are those things that I just *think* are important?

I what ways am I in control and what things take control over me and my time?

How do I strike a balance?
So, that's what this series of articles is about. I could probably title it: "Juggling 101: After the balls are dropped!"

Obviously, you are reading this article because you find yourself in a similar situation to the one I described in the beginning and you are looking for some advice, or perhaps a life pre- server! Well, the most important lesson you will learn from this series is this: all the articles, all the books, all the friendly advice in the world will not amount to a hill of beans without using the key to unlock the potential contained in those articles, books, and advice.

Where do I get the key, you ask? You've already got it! The key is you! You are the only one who can do this. And, for these articles to work for you, you need two very basic tools - commitment and tenacity. Without these two items you will not be able to juggle anything. You'll miss those important deadlines. You'll forget to take out the roast to thaw for dinner. You'll rush at the last minute to your child's school play. Not a pretty picture is it? I thought not.

Let's paint a better one, shall we? Together, we can get there. I promise. Just remember, the key is you.

NEXT LESSON: Where Do I Begin?
The very first step.

To Think About:
s What do I want to accomplish with my time?

What's really important to me - and what do I just *think* is important?

Where do I have control and where is that control lost?
